Frequently Asked Questions
When you plug your external hard drives into Diem, it creates a local copy of the file metadata, folder structures, and optional previews, and saves them to your device. This allows you to view and click through all of your external hard drives in one place—even when they’re not plugged in.
It depends on the size of the drive, the types of files on the drive and the sync type you select.
General time estimate for a 4TB drive:

No. All data Diem collects when scanning your drives is stored locally on your computer, and we are unable to access it. The only data we collect is the information you provide during sign-up, along with anonymous usage statistics about which features of the app you use most.
